10 Ways to Be Happier Today and Everyday

1- Set Your Intention: When you wake up in the morning, set the tone for the day and affirm that it will be filled with joy.

2- Focus on What You Have, Not on What You Don't Have: As I learned from one of my spiritual  teachers, "To want what you don't have is to waste what you do have.

3- Keep Happy Reminders Around: Photos you love, playful toys, a jar of bubbles, etc. Reference them often.

4- Keep a Gratitude List:  Be thankful for all the good stuff in your life. And the not-so-great stuff as well, for they can be your greatest teacher.

5- Keep a Joy List: Write down three things that brought you joy in the past few days. Repeat them when needed.

6- Don't Let Anyone or Anything Ruin Your Day: The choice is yours. You have the power to focus on the positive or the negative.

7- Want What You Have: In Buddhist thinking, suffering comes from non-acceptance. Stop resisting, start enjoying your life right now.

8- Be Still: Meditate, take a walk in the garden, sit quietly for a few minutes. Real happiness comes from your own inner joy.

9- Be Around Children: Young kids find happiness everywhere. Observe them at play and some of that might rub off on you.

10- Don't Forget Your Sense of Humor: A little laughter can change your perspective and lift your spirits.
